ANALYSIS

Gianessi is 2-0 vs Gimeno Traver H2H, a 6-4 6-1 in Turin 2011 (Challenger, clay) and 6-1 7-6 in Montecarlo 2012 (qualify round, clay), so there is no sense why he must be underdog. Neither are very strong this year, and they both have mediocre numbers on the clay ATP season. Gianessi has a slight adaptation advantage vs the Spaniard, as he has gone through 3 qualifying rounds, so he is much more used to the court. Literally, odds should be switched around, value is on the Italian.

Scarponi emptied himself yesterday trying to win the Stage, but came close behind Voeckler. He ran Giro de Italia, and he is far from the yellow jersey, so I believe he will take it easy today, and try to hit a Stage win in the Pyrenees for his team. Coppel, on the other hand, is always with Wiggins, and he is trying to catch a top 10 final position, so my guess is he will clearly be in front of Scarponi today.
