Dos equipos llamados a ser serios candidatos a play offf en la Pro A francesa se miden esta noche en París. Los locales son un equipo muy ofensivo, especialmente en casa, donde normalmente suelen meter 80 pts o más. El hecho que estén disputando también la Eurochallenge está afectando sus reservas físicas, y se refleja en su defensa, donde no están prestando tanta atención. El dato clave es que han jugado en casa ante dos de los equipos más defensivos de la Pro A francesa, y les han vencido con ataque: 88-87 (Le Mans) y 84-74 (Limoges). Strasbourg es una roca a batir, ya que son muy buenos en defensa, pero dudo que Collet (entrenador) crea que le bastará con eso para vencer al París Levallois, y recupera a Fitch tras un mal partido la semana pasada ante el Roanne (donde no estaba al 100% de facultades físicas), por lo que sabe que será clave subir el nivel ofensivo, ya que el ritmo frenético de los locales apretará al Strabbourg al límite. Phoenix Suns vencieron muy comodamente a Portland el miércoles. Esta noche se miden a un equipo, los Hornets, que estará sin su estrella, Anthony Davis, quién casi seguro no forzará por precaución. Los 2 entrenadores se conocen muy bien, Alvin Gentry (Phoenix) y Monty Williams (New Orleans), y la pasada temporada los Suns superaron a los Hornets en 3 de los 4 partidos por mucha diferencia. Cierto es que New Orleans son luchadores a domicilio, cubriendo el handicap en 3 de 4 salidas, y que Phoenix en casa no lo ha hecho, sólo cubriendo 2 de 7, pero los Suns han tenido que medirse a Denver (110-100), Chicago (106-112 OT) y Miami (88-97). Creo que Phoenix tiene esa ventaja.

El Barcelona (6-0) tiene poco que jugarse contra la débil Lietuvos (1-5), en cuanto a esforzarse al 100%, ya que están más que clasificados para siguiente ronda y su rival no es de entidad, la preocupación del Barcelona está el domingo en ACB, cuando visitan al Valencia, un duro partido. Los blaugrana por fin se han encontrado con su ataque, y han metido 80 pts o más en 5 de sus 7 últimos partidos oficiales (ACB y Euroliga). Sus dos últimos partidos de Euroliga superaron con creces la línea de puntos: 85-82 al Partizan (140.5 pts) y 66-86 en Brose (144.5 pts). Lietuvos no es un equipo muy ofensivo, pero en sus dos partidos fuera, ha habido puntos, principalmente porque Lietuvos ha incrementado la velocidad del juego: 75-73 en CSKA (148.5 pts) y 84-78 en Brose (148.5 pts). Básicamente pienso que será un partido relajado en defensa, y el total de puntos debería pasar los 150. OK total hasta 145.5 pts.

Lietuvos are not a very offensive team, but in their two matches on the road, there have been points, mainly because Lietuvos have pushed the speed of games: 75-73 at CSKA (148.5 pts) and 84-78 at Brose (148.5 pts). Basically I feel this will be a defense relaxed game, and the total points should go well over the 150 mark. Total points OK up to 145.5

VEF Riga se medirá por 2ª vez esta temporada contra Triumph, tras un 101-78 apabullante de Riga en Letonia (08/10/2012 VTB Promo Cup). Ambos equipos tienen jugadores excelentes desde línea de 3, y les gusta jugar con rapidez, especialmente Riga, que adolece de consistencia defensiva. La estrella local es EJ Rowland, quién no ha tenido una Eurocup acertada, pero que le endosó 35 pts en esa victoria al Triumph. Por el otro lado, los bases del equipo ruso, Tywain McKee y Sergey Karasev, también son muy capaces de anotar con facilidad. Si el total de puntos en ese partido en octubre fue de 163.5/164.5 pts., y el over fue claro, no entiendo que bajen la línea a 153.5 (10-11 pts menos), sin lesionados y el ritmo será marcado por Riga y no Triumph. Over OK hasta 155.5 pts.

VEF Riga mill meet for the second time this year against Triumph, after a 101-78 win by Riga in Latvia (08/10/2012 VTB Promo Cup). Both teams have tremendous 3 point shooting players and like to play fast, especially Riga, who lack of defense consistency. Top player for home team is E J Rowland, who has not had a decent Eurocup so far in the 2 matches played, but he scored 35 against Triumph. On the other side, the Russian team's guards, Tywain McKee and Sergey Karasev, can also score points easily. If the total points line back in October was 163.5/164.5 and it was a clear over, I cannot understand in any way that tonight's line has dropped to 153.5, no injuries and the rythm will be dictated by Riga and not Triumph. Over is OK up to 155.5 pts.

Irving fuera, los Cavs están en una situación desesperada, 8 derrotas en 10 partidos. Divierten jugando pero no son eficientes. Pargo sustituirá al lesionado Irving, jugador que promedia 2.9 pts 1.3 asist en 2 temporadas NBA, y eso es un paso atrás en el juego de Cleveland. Los Sixers vencieron 86-79 a Cleveland el domingo 18/11/2012, y con Jason Richardson recuperado (ya jugó el domingo en la victoria), estos Sixers tienen más versatilidad en ataque. Cleveland sin Irving y la 28ª defensa de 30 NBA (20º en ataque) se mide a Philadelphia al completo (no considero Bynum parte de la plantilla porque aún no debutó) y la 4ª mejor defensa de la NBA. Compro Sixers a este handicap corto. OK hasta Philadelphia -4.5

Pargo will be stepping in for the injured Irving, a player who has averaged 2.9 pts 1.3 asist in his 2 years as a NBA player, and that is a huge slump in Cleveland's game. Sixers beat Cleveland Sunday 18/11/2012 at Philadelphia 86-79, and with Jason Richardson back healthy (he already was in that win on Sunday), this Sixers team is much more versatile in offense. Cleveland without Irving and 28th of 30 defense in the NBA (20th in offense) faces a full roster Philadelphia (cannot consider Bynum in the team as he yet has to start the season) and 4th best defense in the NBA. I take Sixers short handicap home. OK up to Philadelphia -4.5

Dos equipos capaces de anotar se miden en la 3ª ronda de la Eurocup, aunque muchos los tienen etiquetados como defensivos. Valencia acelera el paso en la competición europea, ganando 88-78 al Banvit y 70-76 en Azovmash, así que parecen tener la confianza en esta 1ª fase. Wurzburg tiene una plantilla más corta, y con 2 partidos semanales entre liga y Eurocup, parece que defienden menos en Europa, ya que han ganado 81-77 al Azovmash y perdido en Banvit 101-82 en Banvit. Espero que el partido se vaya por encima de los 155-160 pts.

Mike D'Antoni se estrena como entrenador de los Lakers esta noche cuando reciban a los Brooklyn Nets. Mucho ha cambiado en este equipo de Los Angeles desde la salida de Mike Brown, y los jugadores han ido poco a poco conjuntándose en un patrón de juego adecuado a sus características, a pesar de la lesión de Steve Nash, y recientemente Blake. Este equipo de los Lakers no necesita con urgencia un director de juego, se bastan con Bryant, Metta World Peace está jugando su basket más ofensivo de su carrera, y Gasol/Howard están dominando la pintura, Staples Center será un duro hueso para visitantes, y han vencido por 12 pts o más a Detroit, Golden State, Sacramento, Phoenix y Houston, sólo la derrota in extremis ante el potente San Antonio.
Brooklyn ha empezado bien la temporada (6-2), pero sólo se ha enfrentado en esos 8 partidos a 2 rivales de entidad, victoria en casa ante Boston, y amplia derrota en Miami. Los Nets, incluso ante rivales con menos de 50% victorias, sólo cubre el handicap en 4 de esos 8, y esta noche será un duro test para Brook Lopez, el pivot titular de Brooklyn, que tiene un cara a cara con Dwight Howard de 1-10. Incluso sin bases decentes, creo que Lakers debería ganar con holgura.
